Located at Fairmont San Francisco, Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar has delighted guests with its tropical décor, decadent libations and Asian cuisine since 1945. Having reigned as a swanky outpost of South Seas high style for much of its storied history, Tonga Room more recently gained a following as an icon of tiki’s pop culture heyday of the 1940s and 1950s.
Following a $1 million restoration by Gensler San Francisco, Tonga Room has rekindled the excitement of its unique and time-honored décor to recapture the glory of one of the nation’s first tiki palaces.
Highlighting the refurbishment is an updated lounge area boasting a sleek granite top bar and bar stools dressed with snow leopard accents; new luxurious “good luck red” leather banquettes that wrap around the outer corners of the lounge to create intimate venues within the signature space; and atmospheric lighting through the use of hanging globes in amber, blue, red and opal.

Caterham Cars
In 1957, the genius moustache wearer that was Colin Chapman built a lively little two-seater sports car. The car was designed to be ‘fit for purpose’ – Chapman wanted owners to be able to experience the joy and pride of building their own car and then take it on track.
To that end, he came up with the mantra “Simplify, then add lightness” and the Seven was born.
Over sixty years on, Caterham – which acquired the rights to build and develop the Seven from Chapman in 1973 – is still adhering to Chapman’s original philosophy and is still turning out variants of the Seven that don’t so much shout ‘fun’ at you, as grab you by the lapels and scream it in your face.
With a line-up of models that range in power from 125bhp to 310bhp, each car weighing just over 500kg, Caterham’s eight Seven variants features something for every taste, every level of driving experience. Production of Caterham’s unique British cars is exclusively from within the UK- fro…
Negrente Fratelli
The Negrente brothers began their activity in 1980, making preparations of road and competition cars.
In their workshop come a wide range of already performing cars such as, for example, Renault Clio, Lancia Delta, Mitsubishi Lance, Subaru Impreza.
The interventions that are carried out concern practically every mechanical component of the car: the set-up, the braking system, the wheels and tires can be revisited, up to the engine according to different stages and customizations.
They are also specialized in the reprogramming of electronic control units, through calibrated mappings in real time and have already developed the electronic units of which the latest generation turbodiesel engines are equipped both with pump injector technology and common rail.
Most people turn to the Negrente brothers, to get something more out of their car. Many customers of Bruno and Ivo ask to have the machine a little more snappy and they often suggest the adoption…
Lancia
Lancia (Italian: [ˈlantʃa]) is an Italian car manufacturer and a subsidiary of FCA Italy S.p.A., which is currently a Stellantis division. The present legal entity of Lancia was formed in January 2007 when its corporate parent reorganised its businesses, but its history is traced back to Lancia & C., a manufacturing concern founded in 1906 in Torino by Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin. It became part of Fiat in 1969.
The brand is known for its strong rallying heritage, and technical innovations such as the unibody chassis of the 1922 Lambda and the five-speed gearbox introduced in the 1948 Ardea.[1] Despite not competing in the World Rally Championship since 1992, Lancia still holds more Manufacturers' Championships than any other brand.
Sales of Lancia-branded vehicles declined from over 300,000 annual units sold in 1990 to less than 100,000 by 2010. After corporate parent Fiat acquired a stake in Chrysler in 2009, the Lancia brand portfolio was modifie…
